Overview

Dog Duo is a mobile app for pedigree dog owners who want to discover compatible dogs, create a dog profile, swipe on compatible dogs, and exchange owner contact details after a mutual match. The app uses Firebase Authentication for sign-in and a Dog Duo backend API to store profiles, dog information, photos, swipes, and matches.

Dog Duo does not contain ads, does not use in-app purchases, and does not use analytics or advertising SDKs in the current version.

Types of Data collected

Data you provide directly

Account information: email address, display name, user identifier, and authentication provider information when you sign in with Google, Apple, or another supported sign-in provider.
Owner profile information: display name, email address, phone number, and province that you provide so other owners can contact you after a mutual match.
Dog profile information: dog name, breed, gender, birth date, province, description, profile photos, and optional pedigree photo or document.
Matching activity: swipe decisions, passes, likes, matches, and timestamps needed to provide discovery and match features.
Support messages: information you choose to send when contacting us.

Data stored locally on your device

Preferences: app settings such as language, developer or API environment settings in development builds, and discovery filter preferences.
Temporary image data: local copies or cached previews of photos you select before upload.

Data collected automatically

Authentication metadata: technical information used by Firebase Authentication and supported sign-in providers to keep your account secure.
Technical request data: IP address, request metadata, timestamps, authentication token metadata, and app version may be processed by the backend API and hosting infrastructure for security, abuse prevention, and service reliability.

How your data is used

Service provision: to create and manage your account, owner profile, dog profile, photos, pedigree information, swipes, and matches.
Discovery and matching: to show compatible dogs by breed, gender, and province, and to hide dogs you have already swiped on or matched with.
Contact after match: to show owner contact details only after a mutual match.
Authentication and security: to verify your identity, protect accounts, prevent abuse, and keep the backend service reliable.
Support: to respond to privacy, deletion, and product support requests.

How your data is shared

With other Dog Duo users: parts of your dog profile may be shown to compatible users during discovery. Your owner contact details and pedigree information are shown after a mutual match.
With authentication providers: Firebase Authentication, Google Sign-In, and Apple Sign-In process authentication data so you can sign in securely.
With hosting and infrastructure providers: backend hosting and storage providers process technical request data and uploaded files to operate the service.
For legal or safety reasons: we may disclose information if required by law, to protect users, or to prevent abuse of the service.

We do not sell your personal data.

Third-party services we use

Firebase Authentication (Google LLC)

Used for account sign-in and identity verification. Personal Data processed may include email address, display name, provider identifier, authentication token metadata, and user ID.

Google Sign-In (Google LLC)

Used to let Android users sign in with a Google account. Personal Data processed may include account identifier, email address, display name, and authentication tokens.

Sign in with Apple (Apple Inc.)

Used to let iOS users sign in with an Apple account. Personal Data processed may include Apple user identifier, email address when provided, and authentication tokens.

Dog Duo backend API and hosting providers

Used to store and serve account data, dog profiles, photos, pedigree files, swipe activity, and match information. Technical request data may include IP address, request metadata, authentication token metadata, timestamps, and app version.

Data retention

Account, owner, dog, photo, pedigree, swipe, and match data: retained while your account is active or as needed to provide the Dog Duo service.
Support messages: retained as needed to respond to your request and maintain support records.
Technical logs: retained for a limited period for security, reliability, and abuse prevention.
Backups: deleted according to normal backup rotation schedules. Some deleted data may remain in backups for a limited period before automatic removal.

Account and data deletion

You can request deletion of your Dog Duo account and associated data by emailing privacy@ivanmorgillo.com with the subject line Dog Duo account deletion.

To help us verify the request, please contact us from the same email address used for your Dog Duo sign-in, or include enough information to identify your account.

When your deletion request is processed, we delete or anonymize the Dog Duo account record, owner profile, dog profile, uploaded photos, pedigree files, swipe history, and match records where technically feasible. We may retain limited information if required for legal obligations, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or backup integrity. Backup copies are removed according to normal backup rotation and are generally no longer retained after 90 days.

You can also request deletion of specific data, such as uploaded photos or profile information, by contacting the same email address.

Your choices and controls

You can sign out of the app at any time.
You can edit profile information in the app where editing is available.
You can choose which dog photos and pedigree information to upload.
You can stop using the service and request deletion of your account and associated data.

Children's privacy

Dog Duo is intended for adult dog owners and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

International transfers

Third-party providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States and countries where Google, Apple, or our hosting providers operate infrastructure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect operational, legal, or platform changes. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new update date.
